Assignment 1-Lines
Reflection
In this assignment I tried to capture lines but also the diversity of different angles or scenes.
In my first top 4, I choose this photo because while playing around with shallow and deep aperture, I found this aperture that focused on the closest item but still made things far away look clear enough to see. I especially liked that the vines look like they go on forever, but when taking this picture i felt it was too boring so i added my shoes at the bottom to give more character to the photo. In this assignment I learned different ways to use my camera such as aperture, also that I can use props or people to make a photo more interesting. In continuation I learned while editing that adding some shadowing can make the photo less washed out or make it more dramatic.
In my second top 4, I choose this photo because of the texture going sideways on the front log but also the multiple logs fallowing the front. I also liked with the different objects in the background, such as the chair or the tree. I used a low aperture to give it a shallower effect. I wanted to focus on the first log and the blur out the rest. I learned that with the right aperture you can control what you want to be the focus of thew photo, I learned by adding shadow, more texture can be added to the photo.
In my third top 4, I choose this photo because this is the original photo, I had to do no editing at all it turn out well with the a shallow aperture and dark shutter speed. I found the mistake in the photo very beautiful and i wanted to capture it in a photo. I originally shot with a deep aperture but all that did was make the background in focus and the tree i was trying to capture become out of focus. So i changed my aperture and made my shutter speed darker. The n while editing I tried doing different things to make it more dramatic but everything I did made it look bad. I learned by adding a darker shutter speed you can ad drama, I also learned you do not need to edit all of your photos, and I learned that by "messing around" with different aperture you get different results.
In my fourth top 4, I used the dutch angle to capture this photo. On the day of this photo we had learned about the dutch angle in class and were asked to go around the school and try to capture it. I choose to take a photo of framed works on the wall. I liked that photo looks like it goes on forever, I do not like the glare of the classroom on the photo. i also added more cold colors to the photo and shadowing to make it look darker. I learned that to make a photo have more drama and look colder, you can add colder tones and shadowing to achieve that. I also learned how to use the dutch angle and how to make something look as it is going on forever.

Assignment 2-Lights
Reflection
In this assignment I tried to capture lighting and shadowing by "playing around" with different types of lights and angles.
In my first top 4, I was trying to capture the flying lady on my dad's Rolls Royce. But I did not know how I was going to capture it and how to show lighting/shadowing within the photo. I propped the hood of the car up and weaved Christmas lights through the engine of the car and hood of the car. I like this photo because the Christmas lights are "fuzzier" than the flying lady. I also like that the lights put in different places gave different shadowing. In this photo I learned how to use lighting in different ways to add shadowing. I also learned that by using props you can really change the intentional outline of the photo. Finally I learned that by adding more shadowing I can make a photo darker than the photo by its self.
In my second top 4, I was again using my dad's Rolls Royce and Christmas lights as props. I really like this photo because it looks much older, as if it was out of a black and white movie. Originally the photo was in color and there was a lot going on in the back round so I added shadowing and a back and white edit to make it look more authentic. I learned through this photo that although the photo is originally distracting, you can add or take away to make the photo look different and have a different feel. I also learned how different lights can add different highlights or shadowing.
In my third top 4, I was walking around downtown thinking I could get a few photos, knowing that the assignment was about lights I meditatively thought about the state theater. Taking different angles and getting far away and close up change how I took the photo. I like this photo because although there is a branch in front of the lights, you are still able to focus on what I wanted to focus on. I learned through this photo that by changing the aperture I was able to focus on something other than in front of me. I also learned that I was able to capture lights without having to get up close and personal to the lights.
In my forth top 4, I liked this photo because of the way the the twinkling lights were portrayed in the photo. I learned about editing in this photo that a very plane photo can become more dramatic once you add shadowing, and brightening. I wanted this photo to be competently focused on the bulbs of the lights.

Assignment 3- Point of View
Reflection
The first top four is cool because of the way I positioned the camera to get the shot. I liked this photo because of the reflection of the camera and myself in the photo. I I learned from this photo that by using different props to create different effects I can control how I want my photo to look. I also learned that I can control were the focus is by getting closer or farther away, i can also control the focus with my aperture and how swallow or deep I want my photo to be.
I like my second top 4 because the photo gives you a false impression of what is happening in the photo. I find it interesting because of the texture of the glass and the position of the rose. I learned that with using props, the position of props can determine how your photo is viewed and weather or not your photo is interesting or not. I also learned that the original photo can turn out to be quiet boring so by adding a filter or different edits your photo can turn out more or less dramatic. Finally I learned that by changing my view I can control how the photo is viewed or were it is viewed.
I chose my third top four because I like the uniqueness of the photo. I like that the photo is in an interesting angle and the camera is positioned so that it caught the light differently. I learned from this photo that by controlling the lighting I could control how bright or dull I wanted the photo. I also learned from this photo that by changing my angles I could change how the object shows up in the photo. Finally I learned how the shading in different places changes how dramatic the photo can become.
I chose my forth top four because I liked how it gave you a different view on the object and also how the light came in the object giving it a cool effect. I learned how by looking at an object differently you can capture it differently and have a different perspective.I also learned by adding more or less light in different areas I can contoll what has more or less shadowing. Finally I learned how different textures create different shadowing.

Assignment 4-Portraits
Reflection
I chose my first top four because I liked how the portrait is on the right side of the photo instead of the center. I also liked that how clear the photo came out after editing. I especially liked the edit that I used over this photo because of how her face is the focus not anything else.
I chose my second top four because I liked how she was not looking at the camera and expressed a different expression other than smiling. I also liked how after adding shadowing it made her face more prominent.
I chose my third top four because I liked how my cat was not moving at all. I also liked how the sunlight caught him and how I did not have to be start up in his face to get good portrait.
I chose my last top four because I liked how the sheet made her look fuzzy but her boots stayed clear. I also liked how by learning ghost portraits I was able to use it in my assignment.

Assignment 5: Thematic Shoot: Landscape
Reflection
My first top 4 was picked because I enjoyed how the sun caught the side of the ice and created a glossy finish. I also liked how after editing the sky became bright blue. I used a lower shutter speed to capture the light in the sky and I also used a neutral aperture to capture the whole photo.
My second top 4 was taken at the same location as the first photo, I liked this photo because of how different it was after editing. I used the dutch angle to capture this photo. Once I took the photo I found very boring, so I added shadowing and a black and white filter to make the photo look darker.
My third top 4 was also taken at the same location as my first a second photo, I like this photo because it was very simple yet had lot of different layers in the photo. I also liked how you could see far into the distance of this photo. After taking this photo and seeing it in color I realized that just hurt my brain so to make it hurt less I added a black and white filter over it.
My forth top 4 was picked because I liked how the shadowing was presented on the snow and how the rows curved naturally. I also liked how the sun gave light in the photo.
